At Uforiq, we're committed to creating a safe, responsible, and transparent cannabis industry. That's why we firmly oppose Texas SB3, a bill aiming to impose an outright ban rather than addressing the genuine issues facing the hemp industry. Prohibiting hemp products does not eliminate consumer demand; instead, it inadvertently drives individuals toward unsafe and unregulated sources, fueling illegal markets, and placing public safety at greater risk.

We advocate for sensible, meaningful reforms that prioritize consumer safety, safeguard children, and empower law enforcement to effectively eliminate illicit market activities. Hemp products should be exclusively sold in dedicated, regulated dispensaries, with stringent oversight and accountability, rather than casually distributed through food trucks, vending machines, or convenience stores. Proper regulation ensures industry legitimacy and consumer protection.
Additionally, Uforiq is unequivocally against the sale and distribution of synthetic cannabinoids within the hemp industry. These synthetic products pose severe health risks, threaten public safety, and undermine the integrity of responsible hemp businesses. Clear regulations and stringent enforcement measures are essential to halt the dangerous spread of synthetic cannabinoids.
Infused beverages represent a separate issue regarding distribution and regulation. We firmly believe these products should fall under the jurisdiction and oversight of the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC), allowing their sale at any location currently authorized to sell alcohol. Allowing infused beverages in establishments already permitted to sell alcohol promotes responsible consumption choices, provides safer alternatives for those wishing to reduce alcohol consumption, and simultaneously supports growth in Texas's hemp sector.
Regarding Texas SB1505 and the proposed expansion of the Texas Compassionate Use Program (TCUP), Uforiq maintains a carefully balanced perspective. We enthusiastically support broadening patient access through satellite locations, reinforcing our foundational mission to enhance safe, reliable, and convenient access to cannabis. However, we remain cautious and oppose permitting "pulmonary inhalation" or vaping cannabis concentrates until substantial scientific research verifies the safety of these inhalation methods. Until rigorous evidence ensures the safety of inhaled concentrates, we will prioritize consumer health and refrain from selling such products.
It's also critical to address the harmful consequences of extreme legislative measures, such as those exemplified by SB3. Texas already boasts some of the most comprehensive hemp regulations nationwide, yet state authorities often refuse to fully utilize existing enforcement tools. Instead, lawmakers resort to PR stunts intended to create public fear and confusion rather than promoting education, responsible consumption, and proactive enforcement. These tactics only serve to further endanger consumers by leaving them exposed to harmful actors and low-quality products, directly contradicting the stated goals of public safety and consumer protection.
Additionally, it is important to acknowledge the troubling motivation behind some legislative actions targeting the hemp industry. Influential entities within the medical cannabis sector are actively investing in lobbying efforts aimed at effectively banning the hemp industry to secure monopolistic control over cannabis access in Texas. Such practices prioritize financial gains over public health, consumer safety, and industry transparency, undermining genuine progress toward effective hemp regulation.
Uforiq urges Texas lawmakers to pursue evidence-based, sensible cannabis policies focused on public health, consumer protection, and fair economic opportunity. Let's commit together to creating a regulated, transparent hemp industry that benefits all Texans rather than serving the narrow interests of a select few.
